Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office Youth Program
In June of 2008, Scranton Public Theatre and the Lackawanna County District Attorney's Office launched a theatrical program as an outlet for young people involved in the family courts and school systems of Lackawanna County.  One of the goals of the program is to deter delinquent behaviors using theatre arts in combination with creative writing workshops that will refocus young people's energies, foster more opportunities for self-improvement and allowe them to give back to the community in a teens-teaching-teens initiative.  Scranton Public Theatre professionals work with students in the program to develop plays, vingettes and monologues that deal with issues teens face in an entertaining and educational way.

Facts about the program

Research done by the DA's Office and Lackawanna County Children & Youth Services indicates this program is the first of it's kind in the state of Pennsylvania.  The program is being piloted at four schools - Scranton, West Scranton, Old Forge and Carbonale Area - with over 75 students participating in the project.  If you are a school administrator and would like to particpate in this program, please email us at scrantonpublictheatre@live.com
